New book on death penalty -- A new book on the death penalty by a faculty member has led to much news about the realities of capital punishment in the United States.

Faculty member's new book praised -- A member of the Political Science faculty has published a new book on Nigeria that has been cited numerous times in a recent important report.   Another new book on  African Americans in rural America has also been published.

Student athlete featured -- A criminal justice major, and star of the Appalachian football team, was featured in a recent story in the Winston Salem Journal.

Faculty member receives fellowship -- A member of the Criminal Justice faculty received a fellowship from Appalachian to begin work on a Center for Social Justice and Human Rights.

Interns make the news -- Two criminal justice majors, Amanda Boelke and Steven DiGiantommaso landed 15-week internships at the Naval Criminal Investigative Service Headquarters at the Washington Navy Yard and are making a great impression.

Summer conference in Boone -- This summer, members of the Department will be involved with a conference titled  "Communities in Crisis: Prevention, Response, and Management" being held in Boone Thursday, June 22nd, and Friday, June 23rd 2006.

Members of the faculty publish in on line journal -- Six members of the Department published articles in the most recent edition of the Justice Policy Journal.   In Volume 3(1) of the journal, three of five of the full articles are by members of the Department.


NEW GRADUATE PROGRAM -- The UNC Board of Governors has officially approved the Masters of Science in Criminal Justice and Criminology to be offered by the Department of Political Science and Criminal Justice at ASU!!!

Faculty member discusses murders of two Appalachian students -- A member of the Criminal Justice faculty published a guest column about the murders of two Appalachian students in drug deals gone bad.
