ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS of the Program

Students applying for admission to the MSCJ&C must have:

1) Earned a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or its equivalent from a foreign institution of higher education based on a four-year program.  This degree should be in the area of Criminal Justice, Criminology, Sociology, or related field;

2)  Compiled a strong academic record at the undergraduate level (an average GPA of 3.0 or better, with exceptions by Department approval -- Webmaster's Note: If your overall GPA is not 3.0, you can still apply for the program for admission consideration, based on all the criteria listed on this page);

3) Demonstrated a satisfactory performance on the GRE General Test or GMAT.

4) Earned a total score of at least 2000 points, using the formula that follows: (undergraduate GPA x 400) + GRE Verbal + GRE Quantitative.

Individuals who fall short of any of these requirements may be admitted if other factors indicate their potential for success.  As provided in the ASU Graduate School’s guidelines for admission, these students may be admitted under a “provisional” admission.  These students may be required to take additional courses beyond those normally required for the degree.

For admission consideration, students should:

1) Complete an application for admission into the Graduate School;

2) Submit three letters of recommendation from individuals who are in a position to evaluate the student’s potential success for graduate studies.

3) Submit official transcripts from all universities/colleges attended; and

4) Submit GRE scores.
