FACULTY EVALUATION CRITERIA
I. GENERAL CRITERIA: Load distribution is based on a combination of teaching, service and research for the academic year (July - June). Ordinarily, allocation of time is based upon obtaining a 100% distribution of your time among the following categories using these guidelines. The percent of allocation for each category is decided by the individual faculty member but is limited by the following minimum and maximum guidelines.
Minimum: 50%.
Maximum: 80% (4-4 load), 75% (4-3 load), 70% (3-3 load).
Minimum: 15% (4-4 load), 20% (4-3 load), 25% (3-3 load).
Maximum: 45%.
NOTE: These percentages will be used to weight the scores that you obtain in each category, resulting in an overall score that reflects your teaching, service and research loads. Given the nature of research/and publications, some points earned in an exceptional year of scholarship may be "banked" and carried forward to the next year(s).
CALCULATION OF POINTS: TEACHING
Teaching points will be based on the following areas. This section could be reviewed and endorsed by the DPC. The areas reflect teaching for the Fall and Spring Semesters.
Your student evaluation average will be computed and shared with you. It will be rounded to the hundredth decimal point.
Teaching load: Total number of students (Fall and Spring) divided by 100.

CALCULATING YOUR OVERALL POINTS
Step 1. Write in distribution of time for each category:
A. Teaching . . . . . . . . . __________ %
B. Service . . . . . . . . . . __________ %
C. Research . . . . . . . . . __________ %
Step 2. Determine point score for each category:
1. Teaching . . . . . . . . . . . . __________ Points
2. Service . . . . . . . . . . . . . __________ Points
3. Research . . . . . . . . . . . . __________ Points
Step 3. Multiply line 1 above by the number in line A (ignore percent sign):
This gives a weighted teaching points score: __________
Multiply line 2 above by the number in line B (ignore percent sign):
This gives a weighted service points score: ___________
Multiply line 3 above by the number in line C (ignore percent sign):
This gives a weighted research score: ______________
Step 4. Add weighted scores to obtain overall score . . . . . . . . . . ___________
Example: "B's" distribution is as follows:
Teaching . . . . . . . . . . . . 65%
Service . . . . . . . . . . . . . 15%
Research . . . . . . . . . . . . 20%
"B's point totals are as follows:
Teaching . . . . . . . . . . . . 15 Points
Service . . . . . . . . . . . . . 5 Points
Research . . . . . . . . . . . 9 Points
"B's" score is as follows:
Teaching = 65 (%) X 15 (Points) = 975 Weighted points
Service = 15 (%) X 5 (Points) = 75 Weighted points
Research = 20 (%) X 9 (Points) = 180 Weighted points
TOTAL WEIGHTED POINTS = 1,230
